Is it true that eating raw weed has a number of health benefits? Let’s find out.

Wherever you go on the internet, the cannabis debate is hotly contested.

The majority of liberals found online argue that the many laws around using cannabis were set up before much was really known about the drug.

Each website I looked at boasted more miraculous results than the last. So can it really help?

I saw so many posts on this, but when I clicked through to their sources, I was disappointed. At every turn, I found websites with names like Mary Jane, or HerbLife. It was clear from the start that these websites had a bias towards their own agenda.

Any information on the topic was hidden amongst articles of legalization and smoking – with sources linking back to their own articles, instead of to reputable sources. So let’s take the politics out of this, and stick to the science, shall we?

The most famous chemical in cannabis is THC. It’s the scary one. The one that gets you high and has all those nasty side-effects. The paranoia, the memory loss, the effect on mental health.

Yet, even THC has been found to help manage the pain of chemotherapy. The lesser known chemical is something called Cannabidiol or CBD.

CBD has been in so many studies, it’s hard to lose track. Here are the illnesses it’s had some promising results with:

  • Epilepsy
  • Psychosis
  • Parkinsons
  • Tumour growth
  • Arthritis
  • Anxiety
  • Diabetes

Cannabis is not only used to manage a cancer patient’s pain but has also been shown to reduce tumor growth and even kill some cancer cells but it is worth noting that this is still a very new field of study.

We only know this much so far due to animal testing and some limited human trials. These are promising results, however, and scientists are eager to further study into it.

There are a few reasons why eating raw weed would be so much better than the smoking option. You remove the increased risk of lung cancer, heart disease etc. that go with smoking anything.

But what about cooking?

We’ve recently found that cooking food can alter the way it affects your body. The same is true with cannabis, as it turns out that when heated, the acidity changes which affects the way THC interferes with your brain. It’s how you get high.

By eating raw weed, you get the benefits of CBD without most of the drug effects of THC. Raw cannabis is also rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids – and we now know how important it is to have a balance of these two acids in our diet.

When it comes to raw weed being a miracle cure, however; the sad fact is: it’s still a question.

There are some interesting studies out there, but you won’t see your doctor recommending it for a long while.
