16 Ideas for Raising Your Consciousness
Raising Your Consciousness

Some days feel quite ordinary. Other days become lifelong memories because they are truly extraordinary. What is the difference between the ordinary and the extraordinary?

For many people, it is the ability to raise their consciousness to higher levels.

Here’s some good news: you can raise your consciousness to experience extraordinary days every day.

With these steps, the ordinary, boring days will fade away and become no more. Raising your consciousness will seem a little bit easier after reading the following ideas:

1. Find a little time to begin meditation.

When you meditate, you’re creating an environment where you must raise your consciousness. At the start, this can be an uncomfortable experience because there are a lot of factors that will fight you. Your ego may get in the way or the worries of the day may try to flood your mind.

Don’t get frustrated. Just allow these thoughts and feelings to ebb and flow like river rapids and pretty soon you’ll come out on the other side.

2. Give yourself a plan to follow.

One of the biggest reasons why 3 out of 4 New Year’s Resolutions fail within 30 days is because there is no plan to follow. The same could be said about the intention to raise your own consciousness.

To give yourself a true chance to achieve the extraordinary, outline the plans you intend to take to achieve your goal. The desire to change is good. The outline that will help you achieve change is better.

3. Connect your dreams to your reality.

Lucid dreaming is one of the most important tools that are in your toolbox to raise your consciousness. By taking control of a dream, you can begin to process those thoughts that hold you back from achieving a true level of higher consciousness.

It may take some time and practice to achieve such a dream but stick with it. The benefits are truly worth it.

4. Exercise your mind daily.

Your brain might be considered an organ, but many of its functions are similar to your muscle tissues. In particular, if you exercise your mind daily by trying to solve complex problems or play challenging games, then the responses of your mind become quicker.

Your willpower becomes stronger. Your consciousness? It becomes higher.

5. Take a personal inventory.

If you don’t know what it is that is holding you back during an ordinary day, then all of the good intentions to change that currently exist are worthless. You must be able to identify what has got you stuck in a rut and the only way that can happen is by taking a personal inventory.

What do you like about yourself? What do you think is holding you back? Make a list of pros and cons and then start shoring up the weaknesses on that cons list.

6. Perfectly practice achieving a higher level of consciousness every day.

A simple practice is not enough to help you raise your consciousness. You need a perfect level of practice to bring your consciousness up from the ordinary levels that you wish to change. How can you achieve perfect practice?

By implementing an increased awareness in every facet of your life. Even when you’re paying the bills, you can ask questions about your usage patterns of electricity to encourage a stronger consciousness foundation.

7. Stop looking in the rearview mirror.

The biggest mistake that we all tend to make is allowing the choices of the past to define us. We keep living in constant misery because we look at the choices and consequences of the past and allow those negative experiences to create an internal trigger.

That trigger weighs on the soul and causes it to never seek out anything extraordinary. Change your focus by looking forward. Make choices that will lead you forward another step. Even on those backward steps, don’t turn around.

Keep focused on the prize of raising your consciousness and your journey will lead you home.

8. Keep an open mind.

Some of the biggest obstacles that we all face in achieving a higher level of consciousness are the ones that we place in our own way. Without an open mind to the ability to shift a focus and change, the ordinary days will stick around and make life sail by and feel like it has no meaning.

Allow yourself to explore new things, become someone new, or even just stay in a positive mindset. If you don’t allow this, then you won’t achieve a raised level of consciousness. It really is that simple.

9. Act with compassion instead of practicing compassion.

Some of the finest moments in life occur when one person takes a risk and puts the needs of someone else first. It doesn’t have to be a viral story of compassion to help you raise your consciousness. It can be a simple act of kindness.

It’s why I always carry a little cash with me wherever I go. You never know who you might encounter that may need that money to meet simple, basic needs. Take action to do so. Intending to be compassionate is just practice and ultimately doesn’t amount to anything.

10. Follow the concepts of active listening.

How many times have you anticipated being able to share a fact or personal opinion that it caused you to stop listening? Maybe you interrupted the person who was speaking because you had to share your thought first? A higher level of consciousness doesn’t come from the forming of a personal opinion.

It comes from hearing what the experiences and opinions of others are, finding the good in those, and then choosing to incorporate the best of what you’ve just heard into your own life. In order to do that, you must actively listen to hearing first and speaking second.

11. Eliminate the negative whenever possible.

Certain negative experiences cause us to stay safe. Burning your hand on a hot saucepan handle, for example, will cause you to hopefully remember to use a hot pad or a towel the next time you grab that handle.

It might seem like this is a higher level of consciousness in action, but it is just self-preservation in action. Negative thoughts keep lives ordinary. Finding the positive in all things and rejoicing in those good things? That’s where extraordinary days begin.

12. Keep a high energy level whenever possible.

High energy levels allow for a greater level of focus. That’s why we all tend to get more work done in the morning than in the afternoon.

If you can pace yourself to maintain a high energy level throughout the day, without the use of stimulants like the caffeine in coffee, then you’ll be taking those extra steps that will allow you to raise your consciousness and maintain your focus in anything.

13. Stay away from the junk food.

Having a snack isn’t a bad thing, especially when you’re hungry. When you’re constantly choosing to eat high caloric foods that don’t really fill you up, however, then your fuel is not going to be consistent with the output that you’re requiring.

If you are feeling bogged down during the day, then try choosing healthier snacks that can boost your brain power. Nothing creates more boredom than the desire to just get through a day because you’re feeling miserable.

14. Don’t be afraid to step in so that you can resolve a conflict before it explodes.

We often think of mediation as the ability to find a compromise between two people on opposite ends of a subject spectrum. We don’t often think of mediation that happens within the confines of our own minds, but it is an important skill to have.

Many conflicts can occur because of spirituality preferences, professional requirements, and personal responsibilities. Step into that fray and find a resolution that will satisfy all of your needs as quickly as possible and you’ll have crossed another hurdle toward achieving a higher level of consciousness.

15. Explore the concepts of mindfulness throughout the day.

When was the last time you actually savored a meal that was placed before you? If the sun was shining this morning, did you pause a moment or two to enjoy the feeling of warmth on your face?

What about the touch of the wall that is closest to you right now? Being aware of the fine details of your surroundings by engaging all of your senses is one of the easiest ways to raise your consciousness.

16. Stop going so fast.

The demands of the modern lifestyle require most of us to be rather busy. It’s fine to be busy, but there is no purpose to that busyness if there isn’t a willingness to slow down when it is appropriate.

Do you really need to get to the grocery store 45 seconds sooner than the person driving 5 mph slower than the speed limit? Or could you take that slower speed, invest 45 seconds, and appreciate something that is going on around you?

When the tunnel vision of speed is removed from life, the pictures that are seen are truly amazing.

Raising your consciousness isn’t always easy, but these 16 steps will give you a good start in the process.

Take the first step of your journey today and you will not be disappointed with the results that you will see over the coming days.
